How To Build A Knowledge Based Business

We’re so excited to be starting the year off with a bang and to have you with us. We’re not going to bore you with the sappy stuff because we know you’re here for one thing - how to build a knowledge based business.

First, let’s start off with what a knowledge based business is before we tell you why it’s so grand. A knowledge based business is defined as a business where knowledge and knowledge-based products are offered to the market. Simple English? You have knowledge about a product or a service or you are an expert at a certain skill and you use that knowledge and that expertise to help others and to make money.

You’re probably thinking, “How do I sell my knowledge?” We’ll tell you how.

Find your specialty

What is one thing that you always get asked how to do? What do people come to you for? What advice do you constantly give to other people? What are you good at or passionate about? Think about the knowledge that you already have, what you find yourself already doing and what you are passionate about and love doing.

Research

Once you have found your specialty, do research. We know you probably know this, but business is all about research. Find who needs what you can offer, what problem you can solve, where you can solve the problem, how you can market yourself, where you can market yourself and if you need any start-up costs.

Be yourself

You are selling yourself, your knowledge and what you are good at. People are buying into you and what you can offer them so do not be afraid to show who you are and to show up as yourself. Showing up as who you are is authentic and relatable and that’s what people want.

Don’t doubt

Let go of self doubt and stop questioning yourself and your worth. You are great at what you do, what you present to the world and don’t think otherwise. There are going to be people that will question you, your knowledge and your offering and that’s fine because it’s not for everyone. Keep believing in yourself and what you know you are good at and you will succeed.

Never stop learning

We’ve said it before, but we’re going to say it again - knowledge is one thing that you will never have too much of. When starting, and owning, a knowledge based business you need to constantly be learning about the niche that you choose. No matter how much you already know or how much of an expert you are, there is always more to learn.

A knowledge based business is extremely different to a product based business because you aren’t selling a thing, you’re selling what you know and this leaves room for more self-doubt, more questions from other people and constantly learning and evolving. You have to believe in yourself, what you know you can do, what problem you can solve and ultimately why you wanted to start in the first place.
